The cows in the cantons of Thurgau, St. Gall and Zurich deliver the pure creamy, rich milk. Tilsiter SWITZERLAND is made in more than 70 chee-se dairies according to the traditional recipe: 45 litres of good, fresh milk are required for a cheese wheel weighing about 4 kilos.

Made and treated in the salt bath, the cheese then has to be stored and tended in a special cellar. There the red- dish brown rind forms, and beneath it the smooth, deli-cious curd with its characte-ristic flavour develops. Only after approximately 3 months of ripening and a thorough quality inspection is Tilsiter SWITZERLAND allowed to be put on the market.
